🛠 Bug Fixes
Actively monitored
We continuously scan MACPrep for issues — automated error monitoring runs around the clock, and every report from the in-app feedback form is reviewed. Spot something? Use the Feedback form and we'll jump on it. Recent fixes:
- Jul 22MACPrep now starts before school. Applicants can create a free account and use a focused dashboard for application steps, program and prerequisite tracking, shadowing preparation, interview questions, and financial or relocation planning. After committing, add your program and dates; the same account opens the SAA study experience on your matriculation date, then moves into the practicing CAA experience on graduation day so professional and CME resources arrive at the right time. Lifecycle changes never alter premium access. Available on the web and current MACPrep mobile shell. Some older accounts may be asked once to choose their current stage.
- Jul 16You reported it, we sharpened it. A member flagged that a cerebral-perfusion-pressure question leaned on the central venous pressure without ever giving it — a fair catch. We fixed that question (and one more the sweep caught with the same issue), then re-audited all 1,500+ published questions to confirm each one can be fully answered from the information in its own stem. Keep the reports coming — tap Report on any question and we read every one.
- Jul 16Lab values, now at a glance. The in-quiz Lab values reference is now a clean table — each value on its own row with its normal range — instead of a run-on list, so you can find what you need mid-question without hunting. Thanks to the SAA who suggested it.
- Jul 15New Accessibility options. Profile → Accessibility adds three opt-in controls: Larger Text (four sizes), High Contrast, and Differentiate Without Color (adds ✓/✗ marks where color alone carried the meaning) — all off by default, so nothing changes unless you switch it on. Plus a deep under-the-hood pass for screen readers and keyboard navigation.
- Jul 15A fresh referral code every month. Refer a classmate and they get 20% off their upgrade — the shareable code on your dashboard now rotates monthly to stay current, and a code shared near the end of a month keeps working a few weeks into the next.
- Jul 15See how you stack up. Every question now shows the percent of fellow SAAs who got it right, and your dashboard’s new “You vs all SAAs” breakdown compares your accuracy in each exam domain to the whole SAA community — so you can see exactly where you’re ahead and where to focus.
- Jul 15Pick your program. Your profile now asks which accredited AA program you attend (or graduated from) — choose your specific campus from the list, or “Program not listed” if yours is new and we’ll add it. This tailors MACPrep to you; faculty at your program may see aggregate cohort progress.
- Jul 13Study reminders. Turn on reminders in your Profile to get a gentle nudge when your spaced-repetition reviews come due — so you catch questions right before you’d forget them. Fully opt-in, easy to switch off, and kept infrequent. On the installed app it’s a native notification; in your browser it uses web notifications.
- Jul 12You flagged it, we fixed it. Thanks to the members who tapped Report — after your feedback we ran two full reviews of all 1,500+ questions and corrected 39 (clunky scenarios, clinical-detail wording, a couple of answer keys, and some stray formatting), so every question reads exactly right. Spot something off in a question? Tap Report on it; we read every single one.
- Jul 10Search the question bank. Remember part of a question? Study Modes → Find a question — search by keyword to pull up any question in the bank, perfect for reviewing a tricky one or talking it through with a classmate.
- Jul 10Your Recommended set now adapts to you. The “Recommended for you” set estimates your ability in each of the six exam domains and serves new questions at a difficulty matched to your level — easing in where you're new and ramping up as you improve, alongside your due spaced-repetition reviews and recent misses. See your new Mastery-by-domain breakdown on the dashboard.
- Jul 10Student and CAA profiles. Tell us whether you are currently an SAA or practicing CAA and choose your program or campus. Students can add expected graduation and board dates so MACPrep can tailor the study experience and transition their account into practicing CAA resources at graduation.
- Jul 6The free tier is now a focused 25-question recommended session — a clean way to try MACPrep. The one-time $100 upgrade unlocks the entire 1,500+ question bank and every study mode (mock exams, flashcards, duels, and more).
- Jul 6No more spoilers. While you’re answering, a question now shows only its broad specialty (Obstetric, Cardiac, …) — the granular subtopic label could give the diagnosis away. It still appears in the end-of-session Review. Thanks to the colleague who flagged it.
- Jul 5Duel a classmate. Head-to-head competition — under Study Modes → Duel a classmate, play a set of questions and share your code (or invite link). Your classmate plays the exact same set, and you both see who won.
- Jul 5Duel a random opponent. No classmate handy? Pick Random match in the Duel picker and we’ll pair you with another member who’s waiting — and “Your recent duels” now shows right in the picker so you catch the result once an opponent joins.
- Jul 5Build your own flashcard deck. Tap “Add to flashcards” on any question, or “+ Card” in the end-of-session Review, to save it to a personal deck — then drill it with active recall under Study Modes → My Flashcards.
- Jul 5Flag & save from the Review. The end-of-session Review now has Flag and “+ Card” buttons on every question — including the ones you got right — so you can save anything to revisit or add to flashcards while you review.
- Jul 5100 achievements — with a title for every one. The achievement bank is now 100 strong, and every achievement unlocks its own title to show by your name (100 to collect). New ones span longer streaks, sharper accuracy (up to 99%), full-bank coverage, higher levels, and tougher Arcade runs. Pick yours in Account → Title ★.
- Jul 4Fixed the Mock Exam timer continuing to count down after you left the exam — leaving now pauses the clock and resuming picks it right back up, so a timed exam can never submit itself while you're on another screen.
- Jul 4Press Esc to close any pop-up — the calculator, lab values, the mock-exam and specialty pickers, and every other dialog now dismiss from the keyboard.
- Jul 4Accessibility & polish — the green Correct / red Incorrect labels now clear contrast standards on every theme, quiz-toolbar controls and confidence chips are bigger and easier to tap on phones, and pop-ups are properly labeled for screen readers.
- Jul 4Install MACPrep to your home screen for a full-screen, app-like experience and faster return visits. Tap “Install” when prompted (iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen); optional streak reminders are available. Study sessions require an internet connection. Plus a sharper dashboard — the study launcher leads with your focused set and core modes (the rest under “More ways to study”), and the readiness card now centers on your accuracy trend.
- Jul 4A cleaner, balanced dashboard — on wide screens it now lays out in two even columns (with the study-modes launcher up top as a full-width strip), so more of your progress shows at a glance. Plus snappier press feedback on every tappable card and smoother loading while pages fetch.
- Jul 3Revamped Leaderboard — everyone's on by default (opt out anytime), shown only by first name + last initial. Compete on three boards: questions this week (resets Monday 7 AM ET), day streak, and accuracy (Sharpshooter). Your top 10 now shows on the dashboard.
- Jul 3New Flashcard mode (full access) — hide the choices, type your answer from memory, then flip the card to check it against the correct answer, rationale, and source. Active recall is the highest-retention way to study.
- Jul 3Clearer full access — a redesigned upgrade screen spells out exactly what your one-time $100 unlocks, and premium-only study modes now carry a PRO tag.
- Jul 2Three new themes — Sunset, Forest, and Mist — free for everyone (20 themes total).
- Jul 2More unlockable titles tied to achievements (The Marksman, The Polymath, The Veteran, Halfway Hero, and more).
- Jul 1Two new Arcade modes — Sudden Death (one wrong answer ends the run) and Blitz (a countdown every correct answer extends) — joining Survival and Time Attack, each with its own high score.
- Jul 1More achievements — a new Arcade set plus extra streak, volume, level, and mock-exam milestones, each with XP and a few new titles.
- Jul 1Momentum rings now update live — today’s-goal ring reflects your real-time answer count instead of a stale value.
- Jul 1Achievements now reward XP — each achievement grants XP toward your level when unlocked (bigger ones, bigger rewards), and the Achievements page shows each one’s XP and any title it unlocks so you can target them.
- Jul 1New Titles — unlock them from achievements (Boss Slayer, The Scholar, Grandmaster, and “The Legend” for unlocking everything); pick one in Account → Title ★ to show by your name and on the League board.
- Jul 1Fresh questions every time — practice sets, specialty quizzes, and mock exams now serve questions you haven’t seen yet first, so you draw from the whole bank instead of repeating, and no two people get the same quiz.
- Jul 1New in-quiz calculator next to Lab values — basic math plus quick medical conversions (cm↔in, kg↔lb, °C↔°F).
- Jul 1Answer feedback now shows Correct in green and Incorrect in red on every theme, and Arcade is now in the left menu.
- Jul 1New Arcade in Study Modes — two fast, score-chasing modes: Survival (endless, three lives) and Time Attack (a five-minute sprint). Each keeps your personal best.
- Jul 1Daily Quests now reward XP — earn XP toward your level for each quest (now five a day), plus a bonus when you open the chest. Also refreshed the Exam Readiness card.
- Jul 1New game mode: Domain Bosses — score 80%+ on a short mastery challenge to clear a domain; beat all six to become a Boss Slayer.
- Jul 1Added Daily Quests — three fresh goals each day (resets 7 AM ET); finish all three to open a daily chest and bank quest days toward new achievements.
- Jul 1Introduced XP & Levels — every question earns XP and levels you up, shown on your dashboard, with new Level achievements to chase. The first of several study game modes on the way.
- Jul 1Added 20+ new achievements across Coverage, Mastery, and Milestones — deep-dive a specialty, cover the whole bank, ace three domains, finish Mock Exams, hit peak readiness, and more. Plus a Reset my progress option for full-access members who want a clean slate.
- Jul 1The Mock Exam now mirrors the real NCCAA exam — 180 questions in 220 minutes (two 110-minute blocks), with a 90-question single-block option.
- Jul 1Theme and font menus now show proper capitalization and no longer overlap — opening one closes the other.
- Jul 1New look — refreshed the MACPrep logo, favicon, and social preview image to the new pulse-tile mark. The header logo adapts to your chosen theme.
- Jul 1Redeem code now has its own spot in the menu (for free accounts) — paste a class or cohort code to unlock full access in one step.
- Jul 1Fixed the theme and font pickers in the sidebar glitching out when opened.
- Jul 1Polished the menu on phones and tablets — it's now a clean drop-down with spaced icons and readable labels, and no longer crowds or clips on narrower screens.
- Jul 1Dashboard rings are now interactive — hover (or tab to) any ring and it highlights while a tooltip explains what it measures and your current value.
- Jul 1Fixed the Explorer achievement under-counting your started specialties — it now reflects your real coverage.
- Jun 28Fixed the free "Try 3 questions" sample occasionally getting stuck on "Loading…" — it now retries on its own and never hangs, even on a slow connection.
- Jun 27Buttons now stay crisp on every color theme — fixed cases on lighter themes where the button label could look washed out.
- Jun 27Opening Pricing or other info pages while signed in no longer looks like you were logged out — every page reflects your session and links you back to your dashboard.
- Jun 26Your selected theme and font now stick reliably — saved to your account and kept across refreshes and devices.
- Jun 25Editorial pass: proofread every question in the bank end to end and corrected a few small wording and spelling slips, so every stem and answer choice reads cleanly.
- Jun 25From your reports: fixed a Pediatric question's wording and rewrote a Urology question's confusing answer choices. Reported questions you flag will keep appearing here as we fix them.
- Jun 25Feedback and question reports are now fully anonymous — we never see who sent them, so please be candid.
- Jun 21Light mode now reads cleanly — fixed washed-out colors and contrast on light backgrounds.
- Jun 21Changing your password now confirms your current password first, for added safety.
- Jun 20Pressing Enter on the sign-in screen now submits your login.
- Jun 20Account confirmation emails now link to the live site instead of a local address.
- Jun 19Balanced the position of correct answers evenly across A–E, so there's no pattern to guess.
- Jun 19Standardized specialty categories so content filters group questions consistently.
- Jun 19Sharpened the MACPrep logo and branding in the header on high-resolution displays.
